Joy Johnson, VP of Compliance & DEI Council Chair
Joy grew up in Hawaii where hospitality is THE industry. After a short stint with a law firm after graduating from Georgetown University (and determining that law school was not for her), she started her hospitality career in the legal department of a hotel management company in Washington, DC.
With her knowledge of employment law, she took on regional human resources roles first supporting the company’s select service division, then their full service division, and finally leading their associate relations team.
Her next role as Vice President of Compliance allowed her to come full circle and combine two areas of expertise. But her side gig as Chair of Crescent Hotels and Resorts’ Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council may be her favorite by far.
